I wanted to send out an update following our Board of Directors (BOD) meeting on November 9:
As you may or may not know, Roland has resigned from his duties as Secretary for personal reasons following his involvement in an auto accident. He is doing fine but is focusing on recovery.
In accordance with our Constitution/Bylaws, the President appoints a replacement, and that appointment is ratified by the BOD.
I want to thank those who showed interest in the role and encourage everyone to stay involved. I am pleased to announce the selection of our new Secretary. Here is an excerpt from his interest email, along with a few of his credentials:
I'm writing to express my interest in serving as Secretary of the Central Florida Officials Association. As a 15-year member of the CFOA, I would find a great deal of value in serving the organization that has meant so much to me, and I believe the association would find value in my contribution.
I am currently the Director of External Communications for AdventHealth in Central Florida. In this leadership role, I manage a team responsible for clear and concise communications with stakeholders, including an employee base of over 34,000 people. I am frequently called upon to meet with and communicate on behalf of executive leadership to the company's Board of Directors.
In a previous professional role, I managed communications for the Central Florida Expressway Authority, where I supported the agency's governing board and handled meeting agendas, minutes, and public records requests.
Beyond my professional experience, I served on the Board of the Florida Public Relations Association in various capacities, including a term as President.
I'm proficient with various communications tools, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, and have experience with website content management systems. As a professional communicator, I believe I can bring transparency and professionalism to the role of Secretary, positively impacting how the association interacts with internal and external stakeholders.
As I was saying, I am pleased to announce that Jeff Grainger will be joining our Board of Directors in the Secretary role.
